Brookwood High Falcons

Artie’s grandpa coached our team. He might have been old, but he sure as heck led us through two amazing seasons. He got all hotheaded once when Jackie’s mom showed us an example of the new jerseys she wanted to order for the team. She was team mom, and it’s usually up to her. Grandpa Coach (that’s what he had us call him), said we would look like a bunch of sissies in those jerseys. He told her he would get us some jerseys that real baseball players wear. He took a picture of himself in his heyday over to the local uniform shop. He came back with uniforms that looked very similar to the picture. We all felt like real ballplayers, like he said. We even switched to wooden bats at practice.
