Every year the softball teams would get to march in the “your town’ parade. This year, they changed it up so that the teams who were in the lead got to ride on a float with the mayor. That would be the ‘your team’. There we were floating along Main Street with smiling faces and crowds roaring. We were throwing out Tootsie Rolls and Bazooka gum. The mayor was on one end of the float, Miss “your town” was at the other end, and the ‘your team’ were in the middle, which I feel was the most special part of the float. I saw my hometown in a whole new light from that day on. I’m proud to be a ‘your team’ and proud to be from ‘your town’.
